Founder & Chairman of Grant’s Crusade
Key Biscayne, Florida
Javier Burillo Azcárraga, Founder & Chairman of Grant’s Crusade, is a hospitality leader and philanthropist based in Key Biscayne, Florida. Javier channels his energy into philanthropy through Grant’s Crusade, a nonprofit founded in honor of his son, Grant Burillo. Grant’s Crusade is dedicated to supporting neurodiverse children, amplifying the efforts of nonprofits making a meaningful difference.
Javier Burillo comes from a family rooted in determination and vision. His grandfather, Emilio Azcárraga, emigrated from the Basque region of Spain with 13 siblings and very little money. Despite humble beginnings, Emilio built the media empires Televisa in Mexico and Univision in the United States, all while maintaining a humble and generous spirit. Javier often describes his grandfather as his hero, remembering his lifelong dedication to helping people. Javier’s education laid the foundation for a career that would span hospitality, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy. He attended Instituto Irlandés in Mexico and Tabor Naval Academy in Marion, Massachusetts, before earning degrees from Menlo College. He later completed a master’s in Hotel Business at The Conrad Hilton University in Houston, where he graduated with the Best International Student Diploma.
Beyond his professional and philanthropic work, Javier is passionate about sports and maintains active membership at the Olympic Club in both San Francisco and Florida. Whether on the golf course, tennis court, or exploring new athletic pursuits, he approaches life with the same dedication and enthusiasm that have defined his career.
Javier’s focus is on neurodiverse children and their families. Earlier in his career, he served guests and clients in the hospitality and luxury services sectors, where the work centered on experience. Now, his work is about support. The shift came from personal experience, which changed how he defines responsibility.
Early in his career, Javier focused on performance and results. Over time, he placed greater value on balance and purpose. His grandfather influenced that perspective—he built large businesses but remained simple, a quality that stayed with him.
